Meet our team

Adam Bierfeldt – Decking Manager Division
A native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Adam moved to Virginia in 2016 and joined 9Hammers as our deck division manager in 2020. In that capacity, Adam oversees decking projects from conception to completion, part of which ensures that all parts of the installation are up to county code and pass safety inspection.
Community service is very important to Adam, who has donated more than 800 hours of volunteer time, including with the fire department. It’s all part of his desire to help out.
“I have a passion for things being built right and ‘good’ challenges,” Adam said. “I love to work with customers and our crews, with which I have a close relationship.”

Chuck Sharp – Sales Manager
“When 9Hammers does it, we do it right!” Chuck proudly proclaims of not only our company credo but of his own personal commitment to ensuring the customer is pleased as punch with that new roof. As one of our Sales Managers, Chuck quite literally has a bird’s-eye view of the entire project’s scope, and his expertise makes him super attuned to looking out for leaks and various other pitfalls that can befall this most important part of any structure. He is a HAAG Certified Roof Inspector and has a background in homeowners residential insurance consulting. Chuck has called the Old Dominion home for 13 years, and enjoys spending time at Virginia’s beaches, fishing, and coaching his six children (“yes, six, lol!” he says).
“When disaster strikes, I have the knowledge, insight, and expertise to assist in a smooth and fair process when working with the customer’s insurance company,” Chuck shares. “I take great pride in helping customers make their visions a reality!”

Tony Goodwin – Sales Manager
Tony works so hard for 9Hammers that it’s no wonder he “escapes” Virginia to sunny Florida as often as possible. But when he’s up here in the Old Dominion, Tony’s sales skills are a great boon to our business. Tony has over four decades of experience in exterior home renovations and navigating the often-difficult maze that comes with external home improvements. Tony knows the home business in and out thanks to the many years he spent on the road managing a talented team of installers in various states around the country. His experience entails opening up new businesses around the country, and his expertise has been sought out by companies nationwide. In addition to his professional acumen, Tony has taken to mentoring the next generation of business leaders, and he can often be found giving motivational speeches.
Tony says that his own success is intimately tied to those he helps by “maintaining a positive mental attitude”—and never forgetting to have fun at the same time. Don’t stay in Florida for too long, Tony!

Ray Milano - Owner/President
Even from an early age, Ray knew he wanted to make a living using his able hands. And when he saw his parents deal with unseemly contractors performing an addition to the family home, Ray believed that there had to be a better way of doing business—and so he started doing it.
After several other career paths including time in the software industry, Ray started consulting and discovered a knack for connecting people to their mutual benefit. “It’s the quality of the referral. It’s the quality of the customer outcome, and that goes with the service,” Ray says.
Ray believes passionately in taking the pressure off the customer. For instance, because homeowners often don’t ask for proof of license and insurance from contractors, Ray likes to perform such due diligence. “I’ve actually called the companies to make sure their policies are active,” he says proudly.
Ray is master certified by GAF, the nation’s largest shingle manufacturer, and he’s the only such master certified contractor in Fredericksburg.
“I think there’s more value in addressing customers’ concerns and providing them the quality and service that is in their best interest versus a company that just goes after the money,” Ray says. “I’m really trying to provide people with a peace of mind experience. That to me is good business.”
Ray contributes to the community through his life coaching program and by giving motivational speeches at Strayer University.
